Is knitting with hand-dyed yarn different from working with commercially dyed yarn?

My personal opinion yes it is, hand dyed yarn is more personal...
Will the colour of different balls be different?

Hand dyeing yarn is a small batch process so there is variation between skeins...
How big are your dye lots?

If you need wool for a specific project we will batch dye it all together for you...
How do I knit from a skein?

First wind the skein into a ball. You can hang the skein over the back of a chair and roll it into a ball...
Do we have local shops that stock our yarn?

Yes we do, here in Cape Town we supply Knit Shoppe Love, Big Tree Designs and Estie Craft Shop...
Do you ship abroad?

Yes we do, we basically ship anywhere in the world...
How do I care for my new product?

Handwashing is preferable, although most of our yarns are superwash treated...
Is your product environmentally friendly?

We are very conscious of our environmental impact and do our best to be as low-impact as possible...
Is your product animal friendly?

We think so. In South Africa sheep and goat farming is a 'free range' activity...
Do you provide employment to anyone other than yourself?

Definitely, it’s an important part of what we do and we intend to grow this into a big small business...
Where does your wool come from?

All our yarn is locally produced – the sheep and goats are farmed in the Karoo and parts of the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Capes. South Africa is the biggest mohair producing country in the world...
Is your product addictive?

Yes. One of my customers, a man, bought a knit neckwarmer in the winter...
How are your products made?

We hand dye everything at cowgirlblues. Most of our yarns are commercially spun, the rest spun by hand...
Is your wool soft?

Some people say they are very sensitive to wool and find it scratchy. We all have different skin sensitivities...
What dyes do you use?

We use commercial acid-wool dyes, which are azo-free and comply with European safety and environmental standards.
